Mildred Wildermuth, born Mildred Elizabeth Herrold, passed away Wednesday, January 27, at home in Kit te ry Point, Maine.

Mil lie grew up in Port Tr ever ton, PA, raised by her grand parents, John and Sally Herrold. She attended nursing school and worked at York Hospital in York, PA until her marriage to James Robert "Bob" Wildermuth in 1946. They had 4 children and lived in Carlisle and York before moving to upstate New York for a year and then to Midwest City, OK in 1965. Bob worked as a civilian for the US government while Millie held down the fort at home. After Bob’s retirement they traveled extensively around the US with their Holiday Ramblers RV Club.

Late in life, with Millie’s dementia progressing and Bob’s health failing, they moved to Maine to be closer to their daughters. Even in an advanced stage of dementia, Millie’s sweet nature, for which she was well known, never faltered. And she never lost the ability to appreciate the small things in life, like a beautiful sunset, the smile of a child, or a good cup of hot chocolate.

Millie is preceded in death by her mother Florence Herrold, husband Bob, and grandson Collin David Pilant. She is survived by her son James Wildermuth of San Diego, CA; son and daughterin-law David and Catherine Wildermuth of Austin, TX; daughter Joani Hamill of Bailey Island, ME; daughter and son-in-law Jan and Bruce Pilant of Kittery Point, ME; and grandson, granddaughterin-law, and great-grandson Jonah, Melissa and Mason Pilant of Warrenton, VA. May she rest in peace. Funeral services will be private. Visit: www. lucas eaton funeral home .com
