Doris Day Gower at the age of 92 went to be with the Lord on January 23, 2021. The daughter of Marion Nathaniel and Grace Day born September 9, 1928 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Doris graduated from Moore High School. She married Samuel Jefferson Gower after high school and they eventually moved to Borger, Texas with Sam’s work with Phillips Petroleum and then on to a Phillips Petroleum Plant in Texas County, Oklahoma (OK Panhandle). While there they had two sons, David and Mike. Jobs seemed to move them around the country. They spent time in Guymon, Oklahoma and Perryton, Texas eventually moving to Phillips, Texas where both boys graduated from high school. Then they were off on the next adventure but overseas this time to Norway. They spent 6 very enjoyable years there, then moved back to the states to Missouri City, Texas where they retired from Phillips. They were then able to move back to where it all began for them, Oklahoma City. Doris was very creative and loved to paint and sew. Even making all of their Square Dance costumes which were used everywhere they traveled. Doris was saved at a young age and always led a life supporting that. She was involved at Moore Baptist Church until she was home bound due to the effects of Alzheimer’s on her life. She loved being with her friends at church and her family including her grandkids which she dearly loved.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Jim Day and Wilburn Day and his wife Jimmy Lee, sisters Ruth Pruitt and Genevieve Rupp, brothers-in-law Harold McEwen, Bill Rupp and Robert Armstrong.
