Compared to last week: Combined weighted average for seven auctions: Ada, Apache, McAlester, OKC, OKC West, Tulsa, and Woodward. Feeder steers sold mostly steady. Feeder heifers steady to $2 lower. Steer calves sold $1-$4 lower and heifer calves steady to $5 higher. Slightly cooler temps are expected to move across the trade region next week. Slaughter cows steady to $5 lower. Slaughter bulls $2-$7 lower. Packer demand moderate. Supply included: 89% Feeder Cattle (55% Steers, 0% Dairy Steers, 38% Heifers, 7% Bulls); 7% Slaughter Cattle (89% Cows, 11% Bulls); 4% Replacemen­t Cattle (6% Stock Cows, 79% Bred Cows, 2% Bred Heifers, 12% Cow-Calf Pairs, 0% Heifer Pairs, 0% Bulls).

Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs. was 58%.

SLAUGHTER CATTLE

Live trades in the southern plains and Nebraska sold mostly steady to $1 higher. In Nebraska dressed trades sold $2 higher. Slaughter cattle on a national basis for negotiated cash trades through Friday afternoon totaled 40,858 head. Last week's total head count was 125,552 head.

CATTLE SLAUGHTER Federally Inspected Cattle: 637,000 head down 1.7 percent from a year ago. Western Cornbelt Direct Lean Hog Base Price: Weighted average price of packers bids on a carcass basis Friday was $65.05.

HOG FUTURES: Dressed Basis: (74% yield): Oct. $78.13; Dec. $67.13; Feb. $70.55; April $74.58.

HOG SLAUGHTER Federally Inspected Hogs: 2.730 million head up 1.2 percent from a year ago.

SHEEP SLAUGHTER Federally Inspected Sheep: 32,000 head down 17.9 percent from a year ago.

BOXED BEEF Estimated Composite Boxed Beef Cutout Values: Friday Box beef cut-out values: down $6.31 from last Friday. Choice 600-900 lbs. $214.06; Select 600-900 lbs. $199.82.

MEAT PRODUCTION Beef: 535.3 million lbs. up 0.4 percent from a year ago.

Pork: 579.1 million lbs. up 1.4 percent from a year ago.

Lamb: 1.9 million lbs. down 24.0 percent from a year ago.

CATTLE CARCASS WEIGHTS National Average: This week estimate: 843 lbs.; Last week estimate 841 lbs.; Last year's actual 824 lbs.
