Summer program gets grant
Jubilee Partners recently received a $7,500 grant from the Oklahoma City Community Foundation and its Opportunities for Children iFund grant program to help fund its Summer Kids Club.
The grant will enable Jubilee Partners to reach more students with meals, games, crafts and a reading program this summer. The club now will have the opportunity to reach students in two additional neighborhoods, offering food security, access to academically stimulating activities and mentoring relationships.

CareShare starts endowment
The Putnam City Schools Foundation will start an endowment for the CareShare program in Putnam City with $70,000.
The foundation said it exceeded its matching grant
goal from the Kirkpatrick Family Fund, thanks to the generosity of several donors.
Nearly 40 years ago, counselor Penny Poe started CareShare as a way for children to “hold onto their hopes at Christmastime.” With a few friends and colleagues, she provided toys, books and clothes to Putnam City students in need. People also donated coats and shoes so students could have the basic necessities so those things don't get in the way of learning.
Now CareShare Christmas helps more than 1,200 children get presents. Families, religious organizations, businesses and other groups can adopt a Putnam City family and give them a few items from a provided list.
Penny's Closet — an offshoot of CareShare named in honor of its founder — provided 325 coats and 216 pairs of shoes last year alone. A team of volunteers works with counselors in each school to ensure the students have proper outerwear and shoes.

Parade honors blood cancer heroes
The Oklahoma chapter of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Man and Woman of the Year Campaign, in partnership with Bob Moore Subaru, recently celebrated three pediatric leukemia survivors with a Car Parade for Heroes.
The Man and Woman of the Year candidates compete to raise funds for blood cancer research in honor of local children who are blood cancer survivors. The Boy and Girl of the Year — Jude Starkey and Sammy Davis, were honored during the car parade. Dylan Gardner also was celebrated as an honored hero.
