Glenn Everett Copeland, 91, was called to his Heavenly Home Dec. 21, 2018. He was born Nov. 30, 1927, in Mansfield, AR to Raymon Fenton and Bessie Jewel (Slate) Copeland. Glenn was dedicated to his family and was a great husband and father. Glenn was a Boy Scout and played HS football, where he made a 55-yard touchdown. He graduated 1947 from Mansfield HS. In 1948, he enlisted in the Army in Denver, CO, did basic training at Fort Ord in Monterey, CA, then stationed at Governor Island, NY; Adak, AK; and Kilmer, NJ. In 1950, he met his wife, Mae. They were married May 14, 1952. In April 1952, they had their first baby. Glenn was discharged May 1952. He went to work for LE Myers Electric Co. in 1952 in Arkansas. They moved to Wichita, KS and he worked for Boeing 1954-1961. They then moved to OKC and he worked in fuel tanks division at Tinker 19611987. He was a neighborho­od VP. He also was treasurer at Woodson Park Church of the Nazarene 1984-2013. In 1989, the church had a Glenn Copeland Appreciati­on Day. In 2000, he was diagnosed with cancer, but God had more plans for him. He was awarded the State of Oklahoma Citation Upstanding Well Respected Citizen in 2012. Glenn & Mae lived in their home for 52 years before moving to assisted living in Aug. 2013, where he was awarded Resident of the Month by Meadow Lakes Retirement Village. He played basketball, football, and pool. He enjoyed whittling miniature wooden shoes, football helmets, baseball gloves, cowboy hats and walking canes. He loved music and singing at the church. In April 2018, he went to Washington, DC to be in an honorary flight for veterans. The family would like to thank Physicians Choice for being there for Glenn and Meadow Lakes Retirement Village. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dovie Copeland; and son, Charles Copeland. Glenn leaves cherished memories with his sons, Jerry Copeland (Donna), Billy Copeland, and Randell Copeland (Connie); daughters, Linda Diamond (John) and Teresa Phillips (Randy); 12 grandchild­ren and eight great-grandchild­ren; brothers, Robert Copeland (Mary) and Michael Copeland; sister, Doris Cross (Arl); and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Viewing will be 4-8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22 at the funeral home. Services to celebrate his life are 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23 at the South Colonial Chapel, 6934 S. Western Ave., with burial to follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may leave condolence­s for the family at vondelsmit­hmortuary.com
