An Oklahoma County jail inmate died late Thursday in a hospital, where he was undergoing treatment for a medical condition, officials said Friday.

Larry Freed, 36, was arrested October 2 on a warrant for two counts of indecent or lewd acts with a child under 16. He was being held at the Oklahoma County jail in lieu of $30,000 bond.

On December 14, Freed was taken to St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma Cityto be treated for a preexisting medical condition. He died at the hospital about 11 p.m. Thursday. Because of the severity of the charges against him, Freed remained in jail custody while he was in the hospital, said Mark Opgrande, a spokesman for the Oklahoma County sheriff's office.

Officials did not disclose the medical condition for which Freed was undergoing treatment. An investigation into his death is underway. The state medical examiner had not determined a cause and manner of death Friday afternoon.

In January, a 19-yearold woman told Midwest City police that Freed had molested her years earlier, beginning when she was 7 years old and continuing until she was 9 years old, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Freed is the seventh inmate to die in Oklahoma County jail custody this year, and the second in less than a week. On Sunday evening, inmate Sindi Spray, 24, died in the jail after being found unresponsive in her cell. The state medical examiner's office determined Spray died of a perforated ulcer.

Last year, 12 inmates died in jail custody.
