A fair amount of variety
NORMAN — Visitors to the May Fair Arts Festival found an array of arts and crafts, flowers, fashion and food.
The event, which took place Saturday and Sunday in Andrews Park, 201 W Daws St., featured a variety of artists, original craft work, a juried art show, food trucks, art education programs and information about community services.
May Fair Arts Festival is presented by the Assistance League of Norman, and the event is now in its 44th year. The Assistance League is a nonprofit serving Norman through its support of philanthropic programs, according to information from the league’s website.
Visitors said they enjoyed the artwork and crafts featured at the event, as well as the comfortable setting.
“I think it’s wonderful,” Joan Kemmet Greenleaf said. “They have a wonderful representation of artists and vendors.”
Greenleaf, who is a Cleveland County Master Gardener, volunteered at the festival and also took time to shop for plants at a booth.
Ellen Johnson-Iowa, of Norman, was browsing a booth that featured handcrafted silk embroidery artwork. Johnson-Iowa said she makes it a point to visit May Fair because of the relaxed setting and quality of work.
“This is one of my favorites,” she said about the event. “There’s fantastic art.”
