Daredevil elves to highlight Holiday River Parade

The Oklahoma City Holiday River Parade will float into the yuletide season at 6 p.m. Dec. 17 on the Oklahoma River.

The OG&E Santa’s Elves Christmas Show has become a popular addition to the parade the past few years. The elves perform under the lights of the Oklahoma River before the “parade of boats” and the arrival of Santa. The 30-minute show features professional water sports performers from Winter Haven, Florida, who amaze the audience with their daredevil feats on the swivel ski, fly board, hydrofoil and free style Jet Skis. The barefoot skiers and the six-elf pyramid, also known as the Christmas tree on skis, are audience favorites. The ski boats and Jet Skis are provided by David Sports Center. Presented by the Chickasaw Nation, admission is free to the Oklahoma City Holiday River Parade, which started in 2004 to officially open the Oklahoma River and celebrate the completion of the MAPS 1 initiatives.

Because of limited free public parking in the Boathouse District, spectators are encouraged to park in Bricktown and walk along the canal, under the new Interstate 40 bridge, to the Boathouse District.

There is no entry fee to enter the parade of boats. Parade participants are asked to follow specific guidelines to ensure the safety of all boaters on the river. Boats must be appropriately decorated and participants must abide by all parade rules.
