Hargis named to NCAA board of directors

Oklahoma State president Burns Hargis has been named as the Big 12 representa­tive on the NCAA board of directors, it was announced Tuesday.

Hargis, now in his ninth year as Oklahoma State’s president, will serve alongside fellow respective NCAA leaders as part of the overall governing body for Division I; including strategy, policy, governance, membership and legislativ­e oversight, according a Big 12 news release.

Among its more recent major decisions arrived in 2014, when the board voted 16-2 to allow Power-5 schools autonomy in decision making for costof-attendance stipends, insurance benefits for players, staff sizes, recruiting rules and mandatory hours spent on individual sports.

Dalke posts career-low round

Oklahoma sophomore

Brad Dalke shot a career-low 64 to take the individual lead after two rounds at the NCAA Stanford Regional on Tuesday.

Dalke, who played at the Masters tournament in Augusta, Ga. last month, holds a three-stroke lead entering Wednesday’s final round.

Oklahoma is fourth in the team standings with a score of 557. It is 15 strokes behind first-place Baylor.

The Sooners are three strokes ahead of Brigham Young, Georgia Tech and North Florida. The top five teams and the highest individual will advance to the NCAA Championsh­ip.

Oklahoma City FC signs three players

Oklahoma City FC has signed midfielder­s Katy

Freels, Dria Hampton and forward Anne Remy.

Freels played at Auburn from 2008-10. She played on the United States U-23 National Team and has played profession­ally in the National Women’s Soccer League for the Western New York Flash and Sky Blue FC.

Remy, a Norman native, played at the University of North Carolina between 1998-2001 and also played on the United States U-21 National Team. Hampton, a Piedmont native, played at Oklahoma from 2009-11 before finishing her collegiate career at Florida State.

Oklahoma City opens its season vs. Texas Spurs FC on Sunday at 1 p.m. The home match will take place at Mid-America Christian University.
