set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 1, which showcases some of the area’s most creative landscaping. Master gardeners will be on hand to answer questions.

The waterfalls at the Hall home are sculpted to look like cliffs, studded one recent afternoon with colorful tropical blooms. Flames can dance atop those cliffs, thanks to gas outlets.

An outdoor kitchen and bar area offer a view of Oak Tree National — the 11th tee box, to be exact — but the greenery and fountains provide a natural screen for the sunken living area by the pool.

“It’s a plant collector’s dream house with all the varieties of evergreens and blooming plants,” said Allan Storjohann, past president of the Oklahoma Horticultural Society and chairman of the garden tour committee.

The society stages the event each year to raise money for scholarships supporting students enrolled in local horticultural programs. The group also works with state FFA and 4-H programs.

This year’s tour is centered on Edmond, and each stop on the tour has its own theme, such as “Country Life at Its Best” or “Curb Appeal All Around.”

The Hall home has been designated “The Sights and Sounds of Water.” On the tour are: •3217 Findhorn Drive, Rich and Lynn Garofolo.

•3501 Creek Bend Road, Brent and Peggie Gibson.

•1500 NW 188 St., Charlotte Angel.

•4100 Orchard Hill Drive, John C. and Gail Coffee Breckenridge.

•1205 Oak Tree Drive, Ruth and Bill Trammell.

•5809 Oak Tree Road, David and Sheila Hall.

“You’ll see a whole lot of things if you do the whole tour,” Storjohann said.

“You’ll really get a sense of how landscaping starts, what plants do well in Oklahoma and the best choices you can make in landscaping. That’s what the horticultural society is all about, educating people.”

Advance tour tickets are $10 each for horticultural society members and $12 for nonmembers. Tickets will be available at each home on tour day for $15 each. Tickets to individual homes are available at each stop for $5 each. Ages 12 and younger get in free.

Tickets are available at: TLC Garden Center, 105 W
