FUN WALK AND RUN SET

-

The annual Red Earth Run will be on March 10 — giving you just enough time to get in shape for it.

The race, sponsored by Tinker Federal Credit Union, is expected to draw about 500 runners, according to a Red Earth news release. It includes 10K and 5K runs and a one-mile Fun Walk.

The event is sanctioned by the U.S. Track and Field Association and uses electronic chips to record times.

Awards will be given to overall male and female winners and to the top three runners in each standard five-year age group.

Preregistration is $25 for adults and $20 for those 18 and under. It includes a T-shirt. To register, go to www.signmeup.com/81181. You can also preregister on Friday, March 9 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Tinker Credit Union Community Room, 1117 NE 23.

Race day registration begins at 7 a.m. and is $30 for adults and $25 for those 18 and under. If you register the day of the event, there is no guarantee that you will receive a T-shirt.

Proceeds benefit Red Earth Inc., a nonprofit that operates the Red Earth Museum & Gallery in downtown Oklahoma City and promotes traditional American Indian art and culture.

The race will begin at Regatta Park, which adjoins the Chesapeake Boathouse, 701 S Lincoln Blvd., on the north banks of the river.
