TOP PERFORMERS

Samy Chernacki, Daniel Hand: The sophomore won the 200 individual medley (2:24.22) in a 93-93 tie with Lyman Hall on Sept. 13, and the 200 freestyle (2:06.56) and the 500 freestyle (5:33.04) in a 94-84 win over Foran on Sept. 15. The Tigers also had wins from Lillian Miller in the 200 freestyle (2:08.29) against Lyman Hall, while freshman Ella Speerli and junior Hadley Reiss have each won diving.

Ali Colburn, Conard: The senior broke her own school record by more than 40 points with a score of 307.85 in Conard’s 99-66 win over Bristol Central on Sept. 21.

Anne Edwards, Westhill/ Stamford: Edwards won the 50 freestyle (25.27) and the 100 freestyle (55.22) when Westhill/Stamford dropped a 98-86 decision to New Canaan on Sept. 16. She was also part of the winning 400 freestyle (3:55.31) and helped the 400 medley relay (1:58.26) finish second.

Virginia Hastings, Wilton:

Hastings won three events during the Warriors’ 102-84 victory over New Canaan on Wednesday, finishing first in the 200 individual medley (2:13.90), 500 freestyle (5:30.40) and the 400 freestyle relay (3:52.76). She was also part of the 200 freestyle relay (1:55.34), which was second.

Sydney Jee, Greenwich:

The junior co-captain has collected five wins in her first six individual races while helping the Cardinals start the season 3-0. Her wins include the 200-yard IM, (2:13.19) and 100 yard freestyle against Trumbull (56.15); the 200-yard freestyle (2:01.02) and 100-yard butterfly (1:03.27) against Norwalk; and the 200-meter IM (2:29.44) and 400-meter freestyle (4:47.77) against

Ludlowe.

Kaitlyn Maggio, New Canaan: The senior won a diving competitio­n which featured two of the state’s top contenders in the Rams’ 98-86 win over Westhill/ Stamford on Sept. 16. Maggio’s score of 253.35 edged the 249.30 posted by Westhill/Stamford’s Hannah Chuckas, the defending Open champion. Both divers finished in the top four of last year’s FCIAC, class and State Open meets.

Avery Potyrala, Cheshire: The senior won the 50 freestyle (25.28), the 100 freestyle (55.20) and the 200 medley relay (1:52.74) during the Rams’ 98-75 victory over Mercy on Sept. 8.

Elise Richardson, Lyman Hall: Richardson had three wins, including two in individual races, during Lyman Hall’s 93-93 tie with Daniel Hand. She won the 50 freestyle (25.92) and 100 freestyle (55.94), and was also part of the winning 200 medley relay (1:59.78).

Anna Simonello, Mercy: Simonello won three events in Mercy’s 94-61 victory over Sacred Heart Academy on Sept. 16, finishing first in the 50 freestyle (27.99) and the 100 backstroke (1:09.80), and as part of the 200 medley relay (2:10.61). She also won three races during a 98-75 loss to Cheshire on Sept. 8.

Meghan Tiernan, Hall: The senior had two firstplace finishes in Hall’s loss at Glastonbur­y on Sept. 13, winning the 200 individual medley (2:09.45) and the 500 freestyle (5:13.51).

Miller Ward, Darien: The junior swimmer won three events in the Wave’s 106-75 win over Ludlowe on Sept. 14. She was first in the 200 individual medley (2:11.10) and was part of the winning 200 medley (1:53.27) and 400 freestyle (3:47.52) relays. Warde also finished third in the 100 butterfly (1:05.10).

MEETS TO WATCH

Amity, Glastonbur­y and Greenwich at High Plains Community Center, Saturday, 3:45: Powers from the SCC, CCC and FCIAC meet in a three-school competitio­n in Orange.

Wilton at Westhill/Stamford, Wednesday, 3:30: The FCIAC is deep, as always, and these teams will be in the mix for a top-five spot at the conference tournament later this season.

Darien at Staples, Wednesday, 4: Darien is loaded with talent, led by junior Miller Ward, while Staples features sophomore sisters Annam, the GameTimeCT Swimmer of the Year in 2021, and Ayann Olasewere.

New Canaan at Ridgefield at Barlow Mountain School, Friday, 4: Two of the FCIAC’s perennial contenders go head to head.
