Danbury-area blood drives offer chance to win trip to the Super Bowl
DANBURY — By donating blood this month, you could win a trip to one of the biggest sporting events of the year.
January is National Blood Donor Month, and the American Red Cross and Pro Football Hall of Famer Peyton Manning are teaming up to push for more donations by offering a chance to win a trip to Super Bowl LVII in Glendale, Ariz.
Blood donations are at risk of dropping in winter, when many donors may find it difficult to make and keep appointments due to bad weather or seasonal illnesses. On Thursday, the American Red Cross held an all-day blood drive at the Ethan Allen Hotel.
But the Red Cross wants to keep lifesaving blood products stocked for hospitals that provide critical care. Those who give blood, platelets or plasma during January will be automatically entered to win a trip for two to the Super Bowl, including access to day-of, in-stadium pregame activities, tickets to the official Super Bowl Experience, round-trip airfare to Phoenix, hotel accommodations for the
nights of Feb. 10 through Feb. 13, plus a $500 gift card for expenses.
“If everyone does their part and we collectively commit to donating blood, we can stack up more wins for hospital patients who are counting on us. A single
individual is certainly impactful, but a whole team of people coming together to donate has an even greater effect,” said Manning, one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time with two Super Bowl victories to his credit.
