Treasurer’s Office names chief deputy
Falkenberg assumes position following retirement of Blanock
The Lake County Treasurer’s Office has named Sherri Falkenberg as chief deputy treasurer.
Falkenberg, who served most recently as deputy treasurer/community affairs, was sworn in last month by Treasurer Mike Zuren, and takes over for Dave Blanock, whom she thanked for “passing the torch.”
The move, Zuren noted, was a surprise to no one, as Falkenberg, who’s been with the office since September 2021, “has spent the last two years preparing” for the position, developing a strong set of skills and a proven record of success.
“Sherri has been an integral part of technology upgrades and cost-savings measures and has been instrumental in the creation of numerous educational community outreach programs, including tax-reduction savings, financial literacy, and identity theft presentations which have been held at schools, libraries, and senior centers throughout Lake County,” Zuren said. “She has also been directly involved in Lake County Business Roundtable sessions and the Lake County Opioid Alliance.
“As deputy treasurer, substantial work focused on revenue collection, property taxation and financial reporting and accounting, and, as chief deputy, she will continue in those roles, as well as handle attendance and human resources,” he added. “We are extremely fortunate to have an individual as talented as Sherri Falkenberg.”
A mother of three and founder and CEO of Lake Events, Falkenberg has worked as a legal assistant and previously owned a childcare center for 17 years. She’s also served as councilwoman for the Village of Timberlake, where she currently resides.
“Thank you to everyone, I couldn’t be more thrilled and blessed,” she said. “All the support and encouragement means the world to me.”
