Learn how to raise Monarch butterflies

Geauga Park District Naturalist Linda Gilbert will be hosting a Monarch Rearing 101 class from 2 to 3 p.m., July 24, at The West Woods Nature Center, 9465 Kinsman Road in Russell Township.

This presentation, best for anyone ages 12 and older, will share a variety of tips and tricks for successfully rearing Monarch butterflies from eggs to adult, according to a news release.

“By now you’ve likely seen Geauga Park District’s Monarch exhibit at The Great Geauga County Fair or learned about the Monarch’s amazing journeys to and from Mexico through a tag-and-release experience,” the release stated.

“But have you ever considered taking a more hands-on approach to helping the Monarch population by “raising” these special butterflies yourself?”
