Jeffrey Zimmerman
Jeffrey Zimmerman (10/27/1951-12/31/2020) passed away in the early afternoon on the final day of 2020 at University Hospital. Jeff is predeceased by his father, H. Donald Zimmerman, his mother Elizabeth Zimmerman (nee Babyak), and his sister Donna. Jeff is survived by his brother Patrick (in Denver, Co.), nieces, nephews, cousins and many lifelong, close friends.
Jeff grew up in Richmond Hts. where his father was a long-time mayor and his mother was the head nurse at Richmond Heights Hospital. Jeff graduated from Gilmour Academy where he was a star pitcher on the baseball team, which earned him accolades in the Plain Dealer, with his picture on the sports page. After graduation from Gilmour, Jeff received certifications and training in computer programming and quality control in manufacturing. He took pride in his work as a dedicated and conscientious quality control specialist.
Jeff displayed an enduring love of animals, especially dogs, whom he rescued, and birds, whom he fed. He had a veritable green thumb and carefully tended his large vegetable garden at his home. Right up to the end, Jeff was a patriotic and engaged citizen, and his texts on holidays such as Christmas and Easter reminded us all of the true meaning of those seasons.
Prayers, and if possible, Masses, for the repose of Jeff’s soul would be appreciated. Also, in lieu of flowers, donations made in Jeff’s memory to the ASPCA, or to any local animal shelter, would be appreciated.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of remembrance for Jeff at 8:30 am at St. John of the Cross (140 Richmond Road, Euclid, OH 44143 ) on Monday, Feb. 15, 2021, followed by burial at All Souls Cemetery.
