Preseason slate out

The Browns’ 2017 preseason schedule, announced April 10, includes a home nationally televised Monday night game against the New York Giants on Aug. 21.

Other dates and starting times will become more specific at a later date, but the Browns will host New Orleans at some point between Aug. 10 and Aug. 14 to open the preseason. The regular season schedule will be announced later this month.

Two road games will complete the exhibition seat. They will be in Tampa to face the Buccaneers in the Aug. 2427 window and play the Bears in Chicago either Aug. 31 or Sept. 1.

Preseason games will be televised on WEWS Channel 5 and broadcast on the Cleveland Browns Radio Network, including the team’s flagship stations WKRK-FM 92.3, WKNR-AM 850 and WNCX-FM 98.5.

The games against the Giants and Saints, though the test in both games might be brief, will pit the Browns against Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks. Giants quarterback Eli Manning has two Super Bowl rings and Saints quarterback Drew Brees has one.

Tampa Bay quarterback Jameis Winston, the first pick in 2015, was one of the most improved players in the league last year. Since the meeting with the Buccaneers is the third practice game, the Browns will likely see more of Winston than any other quarterback this summer.

The Browns were 0-4 in the preseason last summer. Going winless in practice games doesn’t always forecast the future, but it did last year. The Browns lost their first 14 games of the regular season before beating the Chargers, 20-17, for their only victory of the season.
