Lake Erie College honored its 12th president, Brian Posler, on April 7 at the inauguration ceremony.
“We had a good feeling about President Posler from the moment we met him,” said National Alumni Board President Janeane Cappara. “He’s smart, energetic, innovative and sincere.”
Cappara said Posler has proven a true dedication to past, present and future students.
Student Senate President Nadia Lee says the student body recognizes that he wants the students, staff and college to succeed.
“Since becoming a member of this great community, our students have recognized his passion and enthusiasm,” Lee said.
In addition to making a difference on-campus, Posler has impacted the entire city.
Painesville City Manager Monica Irelan says he has already begun laying a new foundation to strengthen relationships between Lake Erie College and the city.
Posler said he feels deeply honored and grateful for the opportunity to serve as the college’s 12th president.
In addition to discussing his future vision, Posler reflects on the college’s rich past.
“Lake Erie College has a long history of trials as well as triumphs, but it successfully faced each trial with a spirit of innovation, adapting and reinventing itself each time.” he said.
Posler says Storm, the college’s mascot best describes the college’s past and future.
“The Lake Erie College Storm is the perfect name for who we are and what we do here so well,” he said. “The learning at Lake Erie College is a storm — you will be a changed transformed person once you experience our curriculum.”
Posler encouraged the audience to “rage on.”
“We are called to illuminate darkness, we must rage against injustice, we must use righteous anger to fight for truth, love and liberty,” he said. “Embrace that you are the storm.”
