First Lutheran Church names pastor
First Lutheran Church selected Rev. Rosalina Rivera April 8 as a next pastor in Lorain.
According to a news release from First Lutheran Church:
Ordained in 2013, Rivera serves as associate pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pflugerville, Texas.
Her first worship service is 9:30 a.m. May 21 at General Johnnie Wilson Middle School at 2700 Washington Ave. in Lorain.
First Lutheran Church lost its building in a fire. A new building is being built at 1019 W. 5th St. in Lorain.
Before entering the ministry, Rivera worked as an elementary music teacher and as a lighting consultant.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, N.C., and a Master of Divinity degree from Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa.
Long-time First Lutheran pastor Rev. Jimmy Madsen intends to serve on a part-time basis.
First Lutheran is associated with Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. It nurtures a tradition of musical excellence and offers a FIRST-Music concert series.
The church also serves the community through programs that provide food, shelter, clothing and other assistance to those in need.
