Sylvia E. (Shaner) Mayo

Sylvia E. Mayo, 88, of Orefield, passed away Thursday, September 7, 2023 at home. She was the wife of Theodore T. Mayo, with whom she shared 65 years of marriage. Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Esther (Hilbert) Shaner. She was a 1952 graduate of Allentown High School. She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Orefield as well as a member of Rosicrucian Order AMORC, and served on the Board of Directors Allentown Chapter AMORC. Before retiring, she worked 25 years as a realtor for Patt White Real Estate and for Monaghan Real Estate. Prior, she worked at Western Electric. In her earlier years, Sylvia served on the Board of Directors for Coalition of Pure Water for Allentown (Fighting against fluoride in city drinking water). Survivors: Husband Theodore; sons Theodore R. and his wife Leslee, Anthony R. and his wife Deborah, all of Orefield; grandsons Jeremy and Anthony and his wife Jennifer; great grandchildren Isabella, Jason, Anthony, Devlin; great granddaughter Remmington; sister in law Eleanor Shaner. She was predeceased by a son Barry Warke, her daughters Terry M. Compher and Linda M. Mayo, grandson Christopher M., and a brother Richard Shaner. Memorial Services: 11:00 AM, Tuesday, September 19 at Trexler Funeral Home, 1625 W. Highland St. Allentown. Calling will begin at 10:00 AM.
