Margaret S. " Maggie " (Spindler) Hilbert

Our beloved Maggie, 81 years of age and lifelong resident of Allentown, passed away on December 3, 2022. She was the widow of Donald R. Hilbert, the founder of Hilbert’s Pharmacy and Gifts in Whitehall, who passed away in

1984, and the late Anthony J. Verzino, Sr.

Born in Allentown to the late Joseph F. and Marie (Zorn) Spindler, Maggie graduated from the last Class of Allentown High School in 1959, and was very active with her Reunion Committee. She was a member of the former

St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Allentown, the German American Club, formerly known as the Lehigh Saengerbund, and the Whitehall Area Chamber of Commerce. Very active in the Democratic Party all of her life, she was the current President of The Women’s Democratic Club of Lehigh County, a Board Member of the Pennsylvania Federation of Democratic Women, and Past Democratic Committeewoman of Lower Macungie Township. She was the recipient of the Mae Boemio Woman of the Year Award presented by the Democratic Committee of Lehigh County. Maggie is survived by her son Anthony

J. Verzino, Jr. of Catasauqua; daughter Melissa A. Hilbert of Allentown; grandson Giovanni

Verzino; along with cousins and extended family in Remlingen, Germany. She was also predeceased by her son Gregory M. Verzino in 2003. Services will be 11:00 am Friday December 9, 2022 in Saint John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 835 Third Street, Whitehall, located 3 blocks north of the Fullerton Ave. exit of Route 22, where her family will receive guests from 9:00 am until 10:45 am. Interment will follow in Arlington Memorial Park, Whitehall, Pennsylvania.
