Entrepreneurs show their wares
MADISON >> More than 30 young entrepreneurs from across the state gathered June 9 at Vista Life Innovations to sell their products and connect with peers during the YASBIZ Vendor Fair. YASBIZ is network of young adult service programs and agencies that allows people with mental health and other disabilities the opportunity to create small businesses in a supported environment and practice the skills they need to succeed.
Twelve agencies participated in the fair, which was presented by Vista with Street Smart Ventures, Bridges, and Roses for Autism.
The fair showcased such products as art and jewelry, crocheted scarves and natural body scrubs. Among the vendors was Christopher Hamel with United Services, a writer who was selling copies of his poetry book “Balance at All Angles.” Also, a young entrepreneur with Ability Beyond was selling her handcrafted tutu skirts and taking custom orders.
Vista member Nicole Martines, a Clinton resident who last year launched a business selling her duct tape pens and accessories, was selling her creations.
Several vendors led interactive learning workshops in which they shared their hobby, skills or creative knowledge with peers.
With campuses in Madison, Westbrook and Guilford, Vista is a nationally accredited communitybased education program for individuals with disabilities.
