Barnstone Art for Kids, a non-profit that focuses on kids facing diversity, has a change in leadership.
PHOENIXVILLE >> Barnstone Art for Kids, a non-profit that focuses on kids facing diversity, has announced a change in leadership.
Barnstone’s founder and current executive director, Lynn Detwiler, is set to retire her administrative role later this year.
She will continue service to the organization on a volunteer basis.
After a thorough search, Barnstone has named Sean Halloran to replace her.
Halloran previously served on the board and volunteered at Barnstone. He brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in the nonprofit world, predominantly with organizations providing mental health services to children and families.
Halloran’s extensive background in art therapy, program development and trauma-informed care will serve Barnstone’s mission and assist in expanding its impact in Chester County. He is a longtime resident of Phoenixville.
“The opportunity to lead Barnstone into the future is truly an honor and extremely exciting,” Halloran said in a prepared release.
“Barnstone’s programs are truly unique in our region and bring critical healing opportunities to the children and families it serves. We know art-making is powerful. We understand that it can give a voice to a child who has experienced grave adversity,” he said.
“The amazing work and foundation that Lynn has built has genuinely helped children in our community, and the potential to do more is vast,” said Halloran. “My hope is to continue building on that foundation and accelerate our ability to deliver these programs to more children and families.”
“Sean’s professional expertise and charismatic leadership will be an enormous asset in building the Barnstone Organization into a thriving, knowledgeable community that inspires strength and well being in children and families experiencing trauma,” said Detwiler.
“He is creative and enthusiastic and connects instantly with children, volunteers and staff. I am excited to watch our children and community flourish as Sean elevates the Barnstone programs to the next phase of greatness,” she said. “It is with complete confidence and extreme good fortune that I leave Barnstone Art for Kids in the very capable hands and heart of Sean Halloran.”
Founded in 2011, Barnstone Art for Kids is a 501(c)3 organization focused on promoting resiliency in children who are facing adversity.
Using the Power of Art curriculum, Barnstone staff and mentors provide small group art-making experiences with children and adolescents.
