Joan Hoffecker Zeigler, 88, of Pottstown, PA went home to be with the Lord on September 4, 2018.

She was born November 20, 1929 in Pottstown, the daughter of the late John and Marlen (Bishop) Hoffecker. She was preceded in death by her two sisters; Marion Torrens and twin sister, Jean Hollenbach.

She graduated from Pottstown High School with the Class of 1947, then married Clarence L. Zeigler on September 16, 1950, who preceded her in death on May 13, 1996. She was a member of First Presbyteri­an Church of Pottstown where she was a Sunday School teacher, youth advisor, deacon, and a member of the Evening Women’s Circle. She was a member of the Schuylkill Chapter #338 Order of Eastern Star. Joan served her community in many capacities throughout the years; as a den mother for Cub Scouts for many years, worked as a switchboar­d operator at the old Pottstown Hospital, office manager for the Pottstown Firebirds, and was secretary to the superinten­dent and the receptioni­st of Pottsgrove School District. She also volunteere­d at Pottstown Memorial Center, the Pottstown VNA, and the American Red Cross. Joan enjoyed her time using her talents in crafting and sewing and never gave up on a jigsaw puzzle.

Joan had a few favorite mottos by which she lived her life: “Family is everything”, “Any time with family is special”, and “Every day is a gift”. She is survived by four sons; Thomas L. (Marcia) Zeigler, Terry H. (JoAnn) Zeigler, Timothy A. (Sophia) Zeigler, Ty J. (Michelle) Zeigler and only daughter, Tracy L. (John) Webster; 9 grandchild­ren and their families making up 10 great-grandchild­ren.

There will be a viewing from 9:30 until 10:45 am on Friday September 7, 2018 at First Presbyteri­an Church, 750 N. Evans St., Pottstown with funeral services starting at 11:00 am. Officiatin­g will be Reverend Carter W. Lester and Reverend Karen Pidcock-Lester. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Pottstown, her sons will serve as pallbearer­s.

Contributi­ons in her memory may be made to the Memorial fund of First Presbyteri­an Church, or Caring Hospice Services, 400 Commerce Dr., Fort Washington, PA 19034.

Arrangemen­ts are by the Schumacher & Benner Funeral Home & Crematory, at 359 King St. in Pottstown, PA.
