Samuel H. Carpenter Sr., 82, of Pottstown

Samuel H. Carpenter Sr., 82, of Pottstown, South Coventry Twp., husband of Jean M. (McAfee) Carpenter, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018 at Seasons Hospice.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Charles T. and Kathleen (McDonough) Carpenter.

Sam was a US Army Veteran. He was a maintenance mechanic for 24 years with Mrs. Smith Pie Company. He was a member of Masonic F&AM #446 Mt. Pickering Lodge, the Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Spring City, the American Legion Post 602, Spring City and a former member of the Pottstown Classic Car Club. Sam was an avid boater, enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, the Eagles and going to car shows. First and foremost, he loved his family and spending time with them.

Surviving with his wife are children Samuel H. Carpenter Jr., Jeffrey Carpenter, Sharon Lott, James Carpenter, and Dean Carpenter; grandchildren Samuel III, Taite, Jeff Jr., Tyler, Jenna, Julie, Kent and Gillian Carpenter, and Jessica and Nicole Lott; and great grandchildren Peyton, Teagan and Lillian Carpenter. Along with his parents, he is predeceased by 2 brothers.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, Jan. 15, 11:00AM at St. Thomas Moore RC Church, 2102 Pottstown Pike, Pottstown. Burial will follow in Philadelphia Memorial Park, Frazer. Visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 14 from 6:00PM to 7:30PM at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 711 N. Franklin Street, Pottstown, and on Monday from 9:30AM to 10:45AM at the church.
