Two men were stabbed Thursday morning in separate attacks at two Oakland parks, one at a homeless camp at Mosswood Park near Kaiser Hospital and the other at Snow Park in downtown, authorities said.

Both victims are expected to recover, although one initially was reported to be in critical condition.

The Mosswood Park stabbing was reported about 10:55 a.m. Thursday. An initial report was that the man was in critical condition. His name and age have not been released. Authorities said a homeless man who apparently lives at an encampment in the park, which is in the 3600 block of Broadway next to a Kaiser Hospital office, was stabbed by a woman who is also believed to be a resident of the camp.

The woman fled on foot before police arrived. Police gave the victim emergency first aid until paramedics arrived, and he was taken to a hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition.

What prompted the stabbing has not been determined, and police don’t know yet if the man and woman knew each other.

Earlier in the morning, about 6:52 a.m., a 51-yearold man was stabbed at Snow Park at 19th and Harrison streets across from Lake Merritt.

After being stabbed, the victim was able to make it to the area of 20th Street and Broadway, where police and paramedics responded. The man was taken to a hospital. Police later determined the stabbing had occurred at the park.

Police have not determined a motive yet for the stabbing. A possible suspect was detained in the area and was being questioned by investigators, but no arrests have been announced.
