Road work across county to cause lane closures

-

Tree trimming, power line upgrades and other work will force the temporary closure of several lanes across Maui over the next week, the state Department of Transportation announced.

In Haiku, power line upgrades will spur a left lane closure on Hana Highway in the eastbound direction between Pauwela Road and Waikina Loop from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. today.

In Kihei, the installation of temporary span wire traffic signals will cause a right lane closure on Piilani Highway in the southbound direction near Kulanihakoi Street, starting today through Friday, 24 hours a day. A single lane on Piilani Highway will also be closed in both directions between North Kihei Road and Wailea Ike Drive from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Wednesday for guardrail installation and pavement striping work.

In Kula, tree trimming work will lead to a right lane closure on Kula Highway in the southbound direction between Pueo Drive and Kula Highway from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.

In West Maui, striping work will prompt a single lane closure on Honoapiilani Highway in both directions between Honoapiilani Highway and Maalaea Boat Harbor Road from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. There will also be lane closures and shifts at various areas. Honoapiilani Highway’s left lane will also be closed in the southbound direction between Aholo Road and Lahainaluna Road from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday for landscape
