A 25-year-old woman was arraigned on multiple weapons offenses following a weekend shooting in Shelby Township that resulted in the victim crashing her vehicle, which then caught fire.

Simone Powell was charged Monday in 41A District Court on four felony charges stemming from the incident at Fox Lane Apartments off West Utica Road near Mound Road.

The incident took place about 4:25 a.m. Saturday when officers were dispatched to a report of several subjects arguing in the street.

While officers were on their way, the call was upgraded to a call of shots fired after one vehicle was seen striking another, Lt. Patrick Barnard said.

Powell allegedly pulled out a gun and fired several shots toward the other driver. The victim attempted to drive away before losing control of her vehicle, which jumped a curb in the parking area nearly striking a tree.

The vehicle came to a stop in front of one of the apartment buildings where it caught fire.

When officers arrived, they detained all involved subjects. There were no injuries.

The vehicle fire was extinguished by Shelby Township firefighters.

Barnard said during the course of their investigation, officers recovered a gun and arrested the suspect. Officers were in the apartment complex throughout the day while completing the investigation.

Police did not say what the two subjects were initially arguing about.

The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office authorized charges of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, a 10-year felony; received and concealing stolen property, also a 10-year felony; carrying a concealed weapon, which carries a maximum five years in prison; and felony firearm, a two-year felony.

Powell is being held at the Macomb County Jail on a $50,000 bond, cash or surety.
