Frank’s Forecast

- By MIKE FRANK Sports Editor

Yabba-dabba-doo, its playoff time!

With apologies to Jim Mora, the playoffs are front and center this week for the area high school teams. College and pros are still rolling along as well.

Last week, your friendly neighborhood forecaster was 15-5, with most of the trouble coming from the NFL, as usual. The overall mark is now at 111-49.

I’ll keep picking high school games as long as area teams remain in it.

With that business taken care of, it’s time to turn it up to 11:

HIGH SCHOOL

Franklin (4-6) at St. Marys (8-2) — Roughriders have been rolling with six wins in a row, and are giving up very few points. Last year, there was just six points in an OT victory for the Riders. This one will be a fight, but the Riders faithful will leave happy……ST. MARYS by 10

Dunbar (4-3) at Wapakoneta (8-2) — Redskins got the next seed after St. Marys. They have also been rolling along with Goulet and Mullen. Potential matchup with Trotwood in the next round, but for this week…..WAPAKONETA by 14

Twin Valley South (4-6) at Marion Local (10-0) — Flyers won the MAC crown, which is no little feat. No Cinderella story here for Twin Valley…..MARION LOCAL by 21

Ansonia (6-4) at St. Henry (7-3) — Redskins and Tigers meet up. I covered a couple Ansonia playoff games back in my time at the Greenville paper. Go with the ‘Skins here…. ST. HENRY by 10

Lockland (4-4) at New Bremen (7-3) — Cardinals out to defend state title starts with home game against a .500 club….NEW BREMEN by 14

———— NCAA #20 Penn State (5-2)

at #5 Ohio State (6-1) — Buckeyes are planning “Scarlet Shoe” to greet the Nittany Lions. If this one goes as long as the one with Illinois, I am leaving…..OHIO STATE

#6 Michigan (7-0) at #8 Michigan State (70) — This one starts the day off at noon, and should be good. Sparty had an extra week of rest. Still remember the blocked punt from a few years back….MICHIGAN

#1 Georgia (7-0) vs. Florida (4-3) — I will never stop calling this “The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party.” Dawgs will chew up the Gators like a squeaky toy….GEORIGA

Texas Tech (5-3) at #4 Oklahoma (8-0) — Hopefully, Sooners have less trouble than they did with Kansas…. OKLAHOMA

Fresno State (6-2) at #21 San Diego State –––––––––––––––
