ORL A N DO, FLA.» Having collected her first career hat trick, the celebratio­n continued for Samantha Mewis as she cheered on her big sister Kristie.

Samantha Mewis scored three goals and Kristie added another to give the United States a 4-0 exhibition victory over short-handed Colombia on Monday.

“I’m just so proud of Kristie. I think it’s so cool to watch her success here and to have her here,” said Samantha Mewis, the reigning U.S. Soccer Player of the Year. “I feel so lucky that we both get to be here.”

The U.S. extended its unbeaten streak to 33 matches.

DU hockey falls to No. 3 North Dakota 5-1.

The University of Denver hockey team fell to 2-2 against No. 3 North Dakota this season after losing 5-1 on Monday at Magness Arena.

The Pioneers outshot the Fighting Hawks 33-26, but didn’t score a goal until Slava Demin’s shot through traffic early in the third period drew DU (4-8-1) to within 3-1. North Dakota answered with Gavin Hain’s goal 30 seconds later and the Pios never got any closer. DU’s Carter Savoie led all players with nine shots on goal.

Texans interview Bieniemy, 3 others in coaching search.

HOUSTON» The Houston Texans said they had interviewe­d four more candidates to replace fired coach Bill O’Brien.

The Texans said they completed interviews with Kansas City offensive coordinato­r Eric Bieniemy, Indianapol­is defensive coordinato­r Matt Eberflus, Buffalo assistant head coach/defensive coordinato­r Leslie Frazier and Baltimore assistant head coach/receivers coach David Culley on Monday.

The Texans did not initially request to interview Bieniemy, which reportedly upset quarterbac­k Deshaun Watson.

NFL won’t allow in-person workouts for scouting combine.

The

NFL will not allow in-person workouts for the scouting combine due to health and safety precaution­s because of COVID-19. The league informed teams Monday that any workouts will take place on the individual pro days on college campuses. Interviews of prospects will be done virtually.

Jon Arnett, star college and NFL RB, dies at 85.

LOS A NGELES» Jon Arnett, one of Southern California’s greatest running backs who went on to become a five-time Pro Bowl player for the Los Angeles Rams, has died. He was 85. USC said Monday that Arnett died Saturday of heart failure in Lake Oswego, Ore.
