Aurora launches search for new city manager.

Aurora has begun a nationwide search for a new city manager as George “Skip” Noe entered his final month of service as the top staffer for Colorado’s third-largest city.

Noe announced in August that he would retire Nov. 1, though the city said he would be moving out of the office he has occupied at the city’s municipal building for the past seven years by Friday.

Aurora last month hired Affion Public to conduct a national search for a new city manager. It said Aurora Deputy City Manager Jason Batchelor will serve as interim city manager in the meantime.

Mayor Steve Hogan praised Noe’s work in Aurora, including growing the city’s reputation as a top place to do business and overseeing significant developments like the Gaylord Rockies Resort and Conference Center and the Stanley Marketplace.

City officials expect the search to find Noe’s successor to take three to six months.
