A moody DeVotchKa returns to Boulder

The musical shapeshift­ers in Denver’s DeVotchKa can always be counted on to set the mood for a special occasion, which makes their annual Halloween, New Year’s Eve and Valentine’s Day shows the stuff of local legend. The band returns for an Oct. 31 concert at the Boulder Theater, with tickets on sale at 10 a.m. Aug. 18. ($29.50, boulderthe­ater.com) If you think it’s too early to start planning for the holidays, you haven’t seen Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s concert schedule. The bombastic Christmas-music band will again return to dozens of venues around the U.S. for its latest “Winter Tour,” including the Pepsi Center on Nov. 18 (for two shows) and Colorado Springs’ Broadmoor World Arena on Nov. 19 (also for two shows). Tickets are on sale this week, although prices have yet to be announced. “The Last Waltz Revisited,” a holiday musical tradition that re-creates The Band’s famous performanc­e for charitable ends, returns to the Fillmore for its 13th installmen­t on Nov. 22. Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. Aug. 18. ($25-$30, Ticketmast­er) Evanescenc­e is roaring back with only its fourth studio album since 2003 and a new tour for “Synthesis” titled (as you may have guessed) “Synthesis Live.” Tickets for the band’s Dec. 13 headlining set at the Paramount Theatre are on sale at 10 a.m. Aug. 18.
