Where to get your caffeine fix

- By Justin De La Rosa

Though we can’t all indulge in every national food holiday, it’s easy to get behind National Coffee Day. Sept. 29 kicks off the caffeinated day, and Denver has plenty of places you can go for your caffeine fix. Here are some spots throughout the city you can go to celebrate the holiday.

Caribou Coffee

Rather than handing out free coffee to customers, Caribou Coffee — which boasts 21 locations in Colorado — is taking a charitable approach to National Coffee Day. For every cup purchased, Caribou will match that and donate a free cup to families, caregivers and nurses in Colorado cancer centers. The company serves its signature Amy’s Blend in honor of its original roastmaster, Amy Erickson, who lost her battle with breast cancer in 1995.

Timbuk2

San Francisco-based Timbuk2 and High Brew Coffee have teamed up to celebrate National Coffee Day. On Sept. 29 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., you can stop by Timbuk2’s location at 1411 Larimer St. for a can of cold-brewed coffee and enter to win a year’s supply of the coffee along with a Timbuk 2 Gist Pack.

Boyer’s Coffee

Boyer’s is celebrating the day with free coffee, live music, food trucks and a chance to win prizes — including more coffee. Stop by the Boyer’s location at 7295 Washington St. between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. to get your caffeine fix.

Corvus Coffee

A South Broadway favorite, Corvus Coffee is offering its guests the ultimate caffeine fix. The Morning Slam is an espresso to enjoy at the shop and a coffee to go for $4. Stop by Corvus at 1740 S Broadway anytime between 6:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. for the special.

Starbuck’s

While it may not be free, Starbuck’s is getting into the caffeinated holiday in another way. When you buy a cup of the Mexico Chiapas brew, the company will donate one coffee tree to a farmer in need. Perfect for the caffeine fiend who likes his coffee with a cause.

Krispy Kreme

Get a free Original Glazed Doughnut and a free 12-ounce cup of coffee at participating Krispy Kreme locations. Hopefully you won’t have to line up at 5 a.m. this time.

Dunkin’ Donuts

In celebration of Dunkin’ Donuts’ 66 years of business, the chain is offering any medium-sized cup of hot coffee for 66 cents at participating restaurants nationwide.

Peet’s Coffee

Get a medium drip coffee for free with a purchase of any food item.

LaMar’s Donuts and Coffee

Buy a 16-ounce collector’s travel mug for $1.19 and LaMar’s will fill it up for free through Sept. 29.
