Colchester — Robert Bronson, 63, of Colchester, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018 at his home.

He was born in Norwich, son of Robert E. and Lorraine T. (Bourdon) Bronson. Robert was a veteran serving with the U.S. Navy. He worked at Electric Boat for 41 years as a mechanical designer. Robert was an official for boxing with kids in Connecticu­t.

He is survived by his significan­t other, Teresa Bronson; daughter, Christina Ewing and her husband, Shane, of California; stepchildr­en, James Broderick of Moodus, Amber Broderick of Portland and Taylor Meeker of Portland; grandchild­ren, Peyton Ewing, James Broderick III; brothers, Erik Bronson and his wife, Deb, of North Franklin, Mark Bronson and his wife, Sue, of Georgia, Jim Bronson and his wife, Chris, of California.

Robert and his beloved dog, “Sassy,” a trained therapy dog, paid weekly visits to The Camelot nursing home on Viets Street in New London for several years.

Calling hours were 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, followed by a funeral service at 7 p.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown. Burial was held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the State Veterans Cemetery.
