Barry Christianson

-

Preston — Barry Otis Christianson, 74, of Preston, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Dec. 10, 2017. He was born on Feb. 3, 1943, along with twin brother Bruce Christianson, to Earle F. and Margaret A. Christianson in New London. Raised in Mystic, he attended Broadway School and Stonington High School where he was a budding young artist, musician, gymnast and avid tennis player.

After high school he attended college for a short time studying anthropology, but decided to follow his passion for art and joined the textile industry for many years. He then worked at General Dynamics doing submarine interior design before retiring.

Barry was an extremely talented musician, playing many stringed instruments as well as keyboard while also having a wonderfully harmonious voice. During his teens he performed with his brothers, Earle and Bruce, and later sang solo at local gatherings while playing guitar or keyboard. He also produced his own holiday CDs. Barry enjoyed reading, photography, dancing, staying fit and enjoying a cup of coffee and conversation with his good friends.

He is survived by his son, Keith Christianson and Keith’s wife Bratsch, of Tampa, Fla.

Barry was a true gentleman; a respectful and kind soul who helped those around him to the best of his ability. He was a good man, friend, father and uncle and will be sorely missed.

A memorial service open to the public will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16 at the Lincoln Park apartment complex in the community building at 11 Lincoln Park Rd Ext, Preston, CT 06365.
