Jane Morrarty

-

Canterbury — Jane S. Morrarty peacefully left us to join the “pickers” in heaven on Friday, Nov. 27, 2015.

Born in Putnam on Aug. 20, 1934, she was the oldest daughter of Fred and Sylvia (Warren) Morrarty.

She was predeceased by her parents, a sister, Dorothy Bradway of Vernon, and her longtime companion, Grant Slater.

She is survived by her sister Sybil Williams of Pomfret; and six nieces and nephews, Lorinda Williams of California, Lisa (Bradway) Nowak of Newtown, John Williams of Pomfret, Marcia Williams of Danielson, Cheryl (Bradway) Gilot of Mystic and Fred Williams of Pomfret. She loved visiting with her eight great-nieces and -nephews. She also is survived by her great-grandniece, Kallie of California.

Jane was a 1952 graduate of Killingly High School. She was employed by Rogers Corp. for more than 30 years. Jane was always looking for a rusty bargain to spit polish and double her money by selling it at the flea market. She loved counting “all that green money.” On Sunday afternoons, you would find her watching NASCAR races; Dale Earnhardt was her favorite racer. Jane enjoyed country music, watching the “oldies” shows in the evenings, and a roaring fire in the fireplace to warm her house. Jane will be dearly missed by her family, friends and “flea market friends.”

Calling hours will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, followed by a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. in Tillinghast Funeral Home, 433 Main St., Danielson. Burial will be in Putnam Heights Cemetery, Putnam.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canterbury Ambulance, 151 Westminster Road, Canterbury, CT 06331 or The NASCAR Foundation, 6th Floor, One Daytona Blvd., Daytona, FL 32114.
