100 Years Ago May 2, 1924
Good Well Opened – What is probably the best oil well shot in this vicinity was opened at Saturday morning on the Will farm on the St. Marys, Wapakoneta Road. The well is located about a quarter of a mile north of the paved road.
Mr. F.J. Thieman was at Portland, Indiana in the interest of the Minster Egg Case Company which he operates here.
Dues Battery Service Station. All makes of batteries repaired and recharged. Cars washed at normal price. West Fourth Street, Minster, Ohio
George Dues has opened up a battery service station in the building one door east of the John Wernsing dry good store on west Fourth Street.
75 Years Ago April 29, 1949
Plans Complete, Work to be Started at Athletic Field – Underground Wiring System is Decided Upon – Contract let for operating concession – Minster Athletic Club has plans completed for installation of poles and equipment for the lighted athletic field. John Bitler, local electrician, volunteered his services as supervisor for electrical equipment installation. Contract for operation of the concessions at the park has been let to Paul Maltinsky, member of the high school teachers’ staff in charge of athletics.

10- County Meeting of UD Alumni Dated – Alumni of the University of Dayton, known years ago as the St. Marys Institute, will come to Minster from as area of 10 counties, for a meeting at the Wonder Bar next Tuesday. The Old Grads will bring promising high school athletics from communities to this meeting, where they will have opportunity to meet with the athletic director and football and basketball coaches of the Dayton school at the meeting.
Jane’s Beauty Shop – Phone 48-J Minster – will remain open under the management of Mr. Elmer Weaver – Specializing in all types of hair styling, permanent waving and hair tinting – Manicures will be given by Mrs. Mary Jane Weaver Thursday of each week, by appointment only.
50 Years Ago May 2, 1974
New Gift Shop Opening in Minster – Friday, May 3rd will mark the opening of Pam’s Gift Shoppe, located at 38 S. Main St. The shop is a part of the building that houses Soloman’s Porch. Inside you will find a wide variety of exotic items ranging from handcrafted to imported. The shop will be run by Pam Sommer and is owned by David Anderson and the Sommers.
The Minster KofC is having a special Mother’s Day Dance at the KofC hall in Minster. The music will be in the German Bavarian style. Due to limited ticket sales, advance tickets may be purchased at the following locations: Minster Fleetwing, Gudorf and Sons, Sherman Drugs, Diener’s Shoes, Dahlinghaus Electric, Schwieterman Drugs, New Bremen and Borchers Store in Ft. Loramie.
The Coldwater Invitational track meet was held on Friday night. Honors in the A division went to Marion Local who came in first with 85 points, Minster with 84 points, New Bremen with 42 points and St, Henry with 20 points. Joe Vallo of Minster received the Most Valuable Honor in Class A.

For the third year in a row the Minster Band received a Superior rating on the State Competitions level.
Minster Girls No. 1 in St, Marys Invitational – Retain Crown – Minster topped 15 teams and actually ran away with the meet scoring 104 points to the second place Ottawa Glandorf’s 61.
2000 to 2007 Newspaper recently added to Minster Historical Society Website.
