They all hate each other, but when each of their husbands winds up in jail after stealing millions for Miami’s biggest drug lord and they end up on the street, the women must work together to survive and adapt to their new lives. This strongly feminist 2018-19 Spanish drama series makes its PBS debut. Set in 1920s Seville, Spain, it follows Teresa (Patricia López Arnaiz), a woman with a mysterious past who flees to a young girls’ academy with a secret goal related to the academy itself. In the series premiere, after the mysterious murder of the Spanish ambassador in Lisbon, Teresa follows a lead to the academy, where she decides to pose as a teacher and apply for a position there.
