Political orthodoxy and heresy 2018

1. True politics is faith-based, not fact-based. One only needs to believe and it will be so.

2. There is only one path to political salvation – our path.

3. In order to be saved one must accept all our principles on taxation, government size, safety nets, abortion rights, gun rights, immigration, etc. No cafeteria-style belief system.

4. In order to defeat our opponents, we must first demonize them.

5. Since we are in the right, there is no need to compromise. Anyone with a contradictory point of view is the Antichrist.

6. Since we are right, there is no need to entertain opposing points of view whether in print, on air, or online.There is only one political truth.

7. Complex issues with numerous details are constantly put out to confuse us. Ignore them or pick the details which fit our view. When all else fails rise up in righteous anger and shout them down, The truth is always simple.

8. There is no need to concern ourselves about the long-term consequences of our political actions, since no one knows the future.

9. Lying to achieve our political goals is certainly acceptable. The means always justifies the end.

10. If our political leaders have a few ethical flaws, that is acceptable (we are all sinners) so long as they put forward our principles. This is the way forward.
