Big River Block Party 2017 is March 10-12 in the South Main Arts District. The kick-off Friday will feature band “The Accidental­s” at the 5 Spot, with live music following at The Dirty Cow. Cookies on Tap fundraiser is March 23 at High Cotton Brewing, 598 Monroe Ave., from 4-7 p.m. Benefits Girl Scouts Heart of the South. Admission is free to the public. Delta Amateur Radio Club will hold a free ham radio Technician license class through April 15. The class is scheduled for six Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. except for March 11 and April 8. There is no charge for the class, but student is responsibl­e for purchasing the $30 manual and paying the $15 FCC exam fee. Since Feb. 2007 Morse Code is no longer a requiremen­t for receiving a ham radio.
