Baldwin coy about lobbying to play Trump at Correspondents’ Dinner
First, it was publishing. Now, Alec Baldwin may be campaigning to make the White House Correspondents’ Dinner great again. The actor — who has become the impersonator-in-chief on “Saturday Night Live” and is set to publish a parody Trump memoir in November — appeared on Wednesday’s episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” during which he discussed President Donald Trump’s declaration that he will not attend this year’s dinner and flirted with the possibility of standing in for the president.
“There are people who are lobbying to play Trump” at the dinner, Baldwin said.
“You are not one of those people?” the late-night host asked.
“Well, I wouldn’t say I’m not lobbying,” Baldwin replied coyly.
2017 JFK Profile in Courage Award is going to Obama
Former President Barack Obama has been named the 2017 winner of the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award. The John F. Kennedy Library Foundation announced Thursday that Obama was honored “for his enduring commitment to democratic ideals and elevating the standard of political courage in a new century.”
Kennedy’s daughter, Caroline Kennedy, and her son, Jack Schlossberg, will present Obama with the award May 7 in Boston.
Caroline Kennedy says Obama carried her father’s torch, “providing young people of all backgrounds with an example they can emulate in their own lives.”
The award is presented annually to public servants who made courageous decisions of conscience without regard for the consequences.
