Curry leads Warriors to 41st straight home win

OAKLAND, Calif. — Stephen Curry scored 26 points, Harrison Barnes added 19 and the Golden State Warriors won their 41st stra ight reg ula r-season home game, beating the Oklahoma City Thunder 116-108 on Saturday night.

Klay Thompson added 18 and the Warriors (46-4) won their ninth straight game to match the 196667 Philadelph­ia 76ers for the best record ever after 50 games. Golden State moved within three wins of tying the Chicago Bulls (1995-96) for the longest home winning streak in NBA history.

Kevin Durant had 40 points and 14 rebounds and Russell Westbrook added 27 points and 12 assists for the Thunder, who had won five straight and 12 of 13.

The defending champion Warriors have beaten the three teams directly behind them in the standings during this current streak. After blowing out San Antonio and Cleveland by a combined 64 points, Golden State was tested against Oklahoma City.

The Thunder cut the margin to 99-95 on a 3-pointer by Durant midway through the fourth quarter. Enes Kanter tied the score at 104 with a jumper, but Durant then missed a long 3-point try.

Curry made a driving layup and Klay Thompson followed another Durant miss with a long-range basket that made it 110-104 with 1:40 to play. Curry’s jumper made it 114 -108 with 33.6 seconds left.

OTHER GAMES

Trail Blazers 96, Rockets 79 at Houston: Damian Lillard had 21 points and 10 assists to lead a balanced scoring attack and the Portland built a big lead early and rolled past Houston.

Portland plays the Grizzlies at 7 p.m. Monday at FedExForum.

The Trail Blazers led by 19 at halftime and scored the first six points of the third quarter to make it 6136 with about 10 minutes left in the quarter.

James Harden scored four quick points after that before the Trail Blazers used a 13-2 run — with 3 -pointers from Lillard, C.J. McCollum and AlFarouq Aminu — to push the lead to 74-42.

Spurs 106, Lakers 102 at San Antonio: LaMarcus Aldridge scored 26 points and the Spurs beat Los Angeles to remain unbeaten at home.

Kawhi Leonard added 20 points and 13 rebounds to help the Spurs win their 28th straight home game to open the season.

Kobe Bryant scored 25 points in his final appearance in San Antonio.

Cavaliers 99, Pelicans 94 at Cleveland: Kyrie Irving scored 29 points, LeBron James added 27 and the Cavaliers bounced back from two straight losses with a win over the Pelicans.

Irving and James combined for 17 points in the fourth quarter as Cleveland improved to 6-3 since Tyronn Lue replaced David Blatt as head coach Jan. 22.

Kevin Love was out with a bruised left thigh, but the Cavaliers went ahead early and never gave up the lead.

Norris Cole scored a career-high 26 points and Anthony Davis had 24 points with 11 rebounds for New Orleans.

Timberwolv­es 112, Bulls 105 at Minneapoli­s: Andrew Wiggins scored six of his 21 points in the final 90 seconds to help the Timberwolv­es surge past the Bulls.

Trailing by f ive with 2:30 to play, the Wolves closed with a 12-0 surge to win it. Wiggins scored the final six of the run, including a pullup jumper with 20 seconds to go that gave them a five-point lead.

Pau Gasol had 25 points and eight rebounds and Derrick Rose had 18 points, 10 assists and five rebounds for the Bulls in their first game without All-Star guard Jimmy Butler, who strained his left knee Friday night against Denver. There is no timetable for Butler’s return, but an MRI showed no structural damage to his knee.

Jazz 98, Suns 89 at Phoenix: Rodney Hood scored 25 points, Gordon Hayward added 22 and the Jazz stretched their seasonlong winning streak to six games.

Phoenix lost its seventh straight and is 2-22 in their last 24 games.

Pacers 112, Pistons 104 at Indianapol­is: Paul George scored 30 points to help Indiana hold off Detroit.

Indiana nearly squandered a 20-point thirdquart­er lead but held on thanks to five missed free throws from Andre Drummond in the final 3:30.

Reggie Jackson led Detroit with 26 points.

Hornets 108, Wizards 104 at Charlotte, N.C.: Nicolas Batum had 26 points and 11 rebounds, and Charlotte rallied in the second half to beat Washington. Kemba Walker added 23 points for the Hornets, who trailed by as many as 19 points in the second quarter.

76ers 103, Nets 98 at Philadelph­ia: Jahlil Okafor had 22 points and 17 rebounds and Nerlens Noel added 18 points, including a key dunk late in the fourth quarter, to lead the 76ers over the Nets. Thaddeus Young scored all 22 of his points after halftime for Brooklyn.
