Five die in two Arkansas wrecks
Five people were killed in a pair of weekend traffic accidents in Arkansas, including three children.
One of the wrecks was about 10 miles from Memphis near Marion, where Arkansas State Police say three members of a family from Gosnell, Ark., — including a 2-year-old — were killed and a fourth member was injured in a three-vehicle collision on Interstate 55.
A state police report says 2-year- old Brinley McGuire, 26-year-old Jessica McGuire and 26-yearold Nicholas McGuire died Saturday afternoon when the sport utility vehicle driven by Nicholas McGuire crashed into the rear of a tractor-trailer. The report says 6-year-old Cadence McGuire was taken to a hospital in Memphis. Her condition was not released.
The report says the SUV crashed into the rear of the tractor-trailer that was stopped because of traffic at a construction zone on the interstate. The semi then hit third vehicle.
No one in the semi or third vehicle was injured.
The other fatal accident was eastern Arkansas, where two Pennsylvania children were killed and three other people were injured in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 40.
A state police report says 8-year- old Karen Espinoza and 10-year-old Alex Espinoza died in the crash near Hazen just before 1:30 a.m. Sunday. Both were from Reading, Pa.
The report says the two were passengers in a vehicle that was westbound on I-40 when it went off the roadway and overturned several times.
Investigators say the driver and two other passengers were injured in the crash and are hospitalized in Little Rock. Their conditions were not released.
