Don’t let the records fool you; it’s always a competitive, hard-fought game when the Gryphons and the Eagles get together. SGIS won the regular-season meeting (10- 6) between the two teams and has played very well in two playoff games. Chandler Loy ran for 203 yards in last week’s victory over Franklin Road, and the defense allowed just 161 yards. The Conquistadors (11-1) defeated the Jaguars (9-3), 31-28, on Aug. 17 when Zach Weir kicked a 20-yard field goal with 6.7 seconds left. This time the winner advances to next week’s North Half title game. AHSAA CLASS 7A West Memphis (8-3) at Bentonville (10- 0) Storylines: The Blue Devils rolled up 480 yards in last week’s win over Rogers Heritage, most of it on the ground behind tailback Kendell Allen (200 yards) and fullback Jarvis Cooper. The defense, however, gave up 507 yards and 36 points, and West Memphis won’t be able to afford getting into another shootout Friday. The Blue Devils’ season ended last season at Bentonville.
