Raymond Jay Bland Jr., age 80, of Marengo, Ohio, passed away peacefully Monday, February 21, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Ray was born on April 20, 1941, in Mt. Vernon, Ohio to the late Raymond Sr. and Edna (Fisher) Bland. He graduated from Eastmoor high school in 1960 and was a proud Army Veteran. Ray was a jack of all trades who could fix anything. He was modest, intelligen­t, and incredibly hardworkin­g. He primarily worked as a railroad conductor for Conrail. Ray enjoyed time most spent with this loving family. He prided himself in his family and always put them before himself. In his free time, Ray enjoyed hunting, fishing, drawing, watching Ohio State football, and eating seafood. He was described by those who knew him best as kind, patient, generous, humble, and as someone with an amazing sense of humor. In addition to his parents, Ray is preceded in death by his son Bart Bland as well as his son-in-law Mike Ucker. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 54 years, Virginia “Ginny” Bland; his son, Bret (Sherry) Bland; his daughter, Brenda Ucker; as well as seven grandchild­ren, 12 great grandchild­ren and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Friends may call on Monday, February 28, 2022, from 6-9pm at the Devore-snyder Funeral Home in Sunbury. A funeral service for Ray will held the following Tuesday at 11am with Pastor Gary Fowler officiatin­g the service. Interment will take place following the funeral service at Glen Rest Memorial Estate in Reynoldsbu­rg with full military honors. The Devore-snyder Funeral Home is honored to serve the Bland family.
