Bon-Ton distribution center in West Jefferson for sale
A joint venture that bought the real-estate assets of bankrupt Bon-Ton Stores is looking for a buyer for the retailer’s distribution center in West Jefferson.
The distribution center is among the assets acquired by a joint venture made up of Great American Group, Tiger Capital Group and Bon-Ton’s lien noteholders. The group acquired the assets on April 18 after submitting the winning bid in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware. Bon-Ton filed for bankruptcy in February.
The 750,000-square-foot distribution center opened in 2015 and has 330 workers.
Bon-Ton filed a notice with the state in April that it would close the distribution center June 5, but the company said at the time that the date is The Bon-Ton Store at the Millcreek Mall, near Erie, Pa., is one of the properties closed in the company’s bankruptcy. Locally, the company’s former distribution center in West Jefferson is for sale. subject to change.
Bon-Ton operates more than 200 department stores under the names Elder-Beerman, Bon-Ton, Bergner’s, Boston Store, Carson’s, Herberger’s and Younkers. The stores, including Elder-Beerman stores in central Ohio, started liquidating last month.
A&G Realty Partners has been retained by the joint venture to sell the distribution center along with other real-estate assets — stores, offices and other distribution centers — that were part of the bankruptcy.
