Hickman leads Westervill­e Central to double- OT win over Olentangy

Thomas Hickman had 30 points, including a regulation buzzerbeat­er and eight points in double overtime to lead host Westervill­e Central over Olentangy 79-75 in an Ohio Capital Conference Buckeye Division game Friday night.

Hickman, who made 11 of 14 free throws, made a layup just before the buzzer in regulation to force overtime at 58-58.

Tied at 62 to start the second overtime, Central (12-6, 4-4) made 10 of 12 free throws, six by Hickman, to seal the win.

Alex Sieve led the Pioneers (8-9, 1-7) with 20 points and made four of the teams 12 three-pointers. within 30 seconds to help lift Grove City (12-6, 3-4) to a come-from-behind win over visiting Gahanna (10-8, 3-4) in the OCC Ohio. With the Greyhounds trailing 57-54, Erwin hit a three-pointer, a pair of three throws and a layup off of a steal for a 61-57 lead with 1:50 remaining. Erwin, who finished with 21 points, and P.J. Jones (28 points) scored all of the team’s fourth-quarter points — nine and 12 respective­ly. They also made all 10 free throw attempts combined for the Greyhounds, who were down 37-29 at halftime. Jones iced the win with two free throws with eight seconds left.

Isaiah Speelman had 15 points and Hilliard Bradley (13-1, 8-0) beat visiting Delaware (7-10, 5-5) to extended its OCC Cardinal winning streak to 25 games and its home winning streak to 19 games. Zach Wilson hit 24 of 29 free throws and totaled 38 points, 30 in the second half, in leading Worthingto­n Kilbourne (7-11, 5-5) to an OCC Cardinal win over host Dublin Scioto (10-8, 3-6).

Jordan McMillian had 27 points and eight rebounds as host Westervill­e South (12-5, 5-3) downed Olentangy Orange (11-8, 3-5) in the OCC Buckeye. McMillian had nine points in the fourth quarter, including six during a 10-2 run over the final 1:29 of the game. Gage Keys scored nine of his team-leading 15 points in the fourth quarter to help Hilliard Davidson (9-8, 3-4) pull away from visiting Central Crossing (9-9, 2-6) in the OCC Central. Mike Woods had 18 points for Central Crossing, which trailed just 39-37 to start the fourth quarter. Garrett Tipton scored 16 points and Morgan Safford 15 to help host Hartley (12-4, 5-2) build a 35-16 halftime lead on the way to a Central Catholic League win over DeSales (8-7, 0-6)

Cort Marbaugh’s baseline jumper with 10 seconds remaining lifted Watterson (8-7, 4-2) to a CCL victory over host St. Charles (5-11, 1-5). Alec Lohiser had a game-high 16 points for the Cardinals.
