Margaret Ann Wheeler Wurzbacher died peacefully at her home in Lafayette with her family on April 18, 2021.

Ann was born in Cartersvil­le GA on August 13, 1934. She attended Lafayette First United Methodist Church and was a member of Lafayette Presbyteri­an Church. She attended Lafayette High School (then 11 grades) and graduated from Rome High School (12th grade) in 1952. She attended Queens College in Charlotte NC, then after one year, transferre­d to The University of Georgia whereupon she graduated in 1956. She was a member of Phi Mu Sorority.

Ann is survived by her husband Charlie Thomas Wurzbacher of Lafayette; sons Henry Franklin (Kim) Beckum, Jr. of St Simons Island GA, Charles A. Beckum of Charlottes­ville VA; daughter Elizabeth Beckum (Robert) Kemp of Lafayette; step-children Kathryn, Craig, and Jason Wurzbacher; grandchild­ren Beau, Annie, and Beck Thrash and Brooke Nix; sister Janet Wheeler (Richard) Smith of Lafayette; nephews Richard and Chad Hutson and niece Emily Ann Smith Pascua. Ann was preceded in death by her father Charles Edward Wheeler and her mother Emma Louise Dent Wheeler. Ann was a devoted wife, mother, grandmothe­r, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved her family and friends. The family wishes to especially thank Betty Ann Chamlee and the staff at Hearth Hospice for their wonderful care and support.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 20th at 4 p.m. in the Lafayette City Cemetery with Rev. Randall Massengill and Rev.

Honorary pallbearer­s from the LOL group who met weekly prior to COVID are Marilyn Ransom, Connie Forester, Janice Fortune, Charlotte Wardlaw, Stephanie Wardlaw, Mary Massengill, and Lynn Carter.
