Get over the hump by planning for fun times

Get over the Wednesday hump by planning for fun times ahead. This week, get in early on a summer film festival, catch the last days of an art exhibition and more.

“Coca-Cola Summer Film Festival” Discounted tickets are on-sale now for the 2018 Coca-Cola Summer Film Festival at the Fox Theatre, which kicks off at 10 p.m., Friday, July 27 with a 50th anniversar­y screening of the cult-classic “Night of the Living Dead.” The event will include special guests, food and drink specials, a zombie costume contest and zombie makeovers for $5-$10 cash. Purchase early tickets only at Atlanta Zombie Weekend. com. Beyond opening night, festival films include “Trolls,” and sing-a-long events for “Grease” and “Moana.” General admission tickets are available now for $8. After July 2, the price increases to $10. Day of show tickets are $12. Movies with reserved seating, which includes “Grease” and “Moana,” cost $15 in advance or $20 on the day of the show. “Deborah Roberts: The Evolution of Mimi,” Catch the final days of this original exhibition, which closes Saturday, organized by the Spelman College Museum of Fine Art. It features more than 50 collages, paintings, and handpainte­d serigraphs designed to encourage conversati­ons about girlhood, vulnerabil­ity, body image, popular culture, self-image, and the dysfunctio­nal legacy of colorism. 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., Mon - Thurs., 12 - 4 p.m, Saturdays. “Nothing to Lose” Plaza Theatre is screening “Nothing to Lose,” a film that shares the little-known story of Edir Macedo, the man who faced Brazil’s public authoritie­s and rose to become a major leader in the country. The film is based on the best selling trilogy novel which sold more than seven million copies around the world.
