Roswell Restaurant Week 2018

- AJC staff

Roswell Restaurant Week is in full swing, offering special prix fixe menus, ranging from $10-$20 for lunch and $25-$45 for dinner. Running through Jan. 31, your favorite Roswell establishments (and some newcomers, too) are enticing you to come out and try their latest offerings — spanning a variety of cuisines, from southern-inspired eats to Japanese noodle bowls and everything in between. This year, there are more than 30 participating Roswell restaurants. Peruse their prix fixe menus online at roswellrw.com.

Here are a few highlights.

Historic Roswell area

A large selection of historic Roswell’s popular eateries are participating in Roswell Restaurant Week, including 1920 Tavern, Adele’s on Canton, The Big Ketch, Ceviche, Lazaro’s Cuban Cuisine, Monkey 68, Osteria Mattone, Plum Café, PURE Taqueria, Table & Main, and Vin25. Some restaurants are offering separate lunch and dinner prix fixe menus, while others offer just one (so check online ahead of time). Nosh on eclectic Asian cuisine and sushi at Monkey 68, whose dinner menu includes options like Kimchi Fried Rice, a sashimi platter, smoked toro and “Angry Ribs” — slow-braised Korean spiced ribs with sweet chili — among other dishes to choose from. Or you can enjoy a Southern meal at standby Table & Main, filling up on their signature fried chicken or shrimp ‘n grits served in a Creole brown gravy for added heat. For a romantic option, check out Vin25’s $45 dinner menu and go for the wine pairing (an additional $25) for curated selections with each course (make sure you get the peanut butter and chocolate cup for dessert!). Lastly, the menus ($20 lunch; $35 dinner) at 1920 Tavern offer a nice mix of comfort food (think goat cheese ravioli and chicken quesadilla) and lighter eats (a winter salad, sesame-encrusted seared tuna) to please a variety of palates.

Roswell Square

Just up the road from historic Roswell’s Canton Street is Roswell Square, where you’ll find Pizzeria Lucca and The Mill Kitchen & Bar. For a casual and warm atmosphere, visit Pizzeria Lucca for some Italian fare and pizzas cooked in their woodfired ovens. The restaurant’s $25 dinner menu is available all day in case you want to stop by for lunch. Secondcourse pizza options include a Small Lucca with sweet and spicy sausage, a classic Small Margherita Extra and the Pavani, which features fig preserves and smoked bacon for a unique twist.

Sweet Apple Village

Craving seafood? Head to C&S Chowder House for its all-day $35 dinner menu. Start off with a cup of New England clam chowder, then get the lobster roll (served Maine style, warm with drawn butter, or Connecticut style chilled with mayo and celery), and cap it off with warm beignets that come with a decadent and addictive praline sauce. Right next door, the Peach & the Porkchop is offering both lunch ($15) and dinner ($35) options, with menus that celebrate the owners’ southern and northern roots and incorporate locally sourced ingredients farmed within minutes from the restaurant.

Crossville/Holcomb Bridge Road

Running East-West through Roswell, Crossville Road/ Holcomb Bridge Road is home to a bevy of restaurant options, including a baker’s dozen participating in Roswell Restaurant Week. On the east side of town, you’ll find options like Monterrey Roswell for simple and satisfying Mexican fare, and Ippolito’s Neighborhood Italian, as well as gastropub Foundation Social Eatery and Circle Noodle, a Japanese restaurant serving up udon noodle dishes. On the other side of town, Bistro VG offers an upscale dining experience, while Marlow’s Tavern boasts a relaxed and low-key ambience. Smack dab in the middle, HOLA! Taqueria & Bar is a solid choice for lunch ($10) or dinner ($25), with dishes like poblano corn chowder to warm you up on a chilly day, and camarones a la Diabla (spicy shrimp), served with guacamole, salsa verde and queso fresco. Opt for the dinner drink pairing ($9) to sip on a spiced pear margarita.
